MOT reminders. Service due. The aged stock that needs a nudge before it needs a discount. The event nobody’s heard about yet. Nobody argues these are a waste of time, they just never happen, because “make 800 calls” means a person on a phone for a week, and that person is already doing something else. So the list sits there quietly not being called, or it goes to an agency: a monthly retainer, office hours only, reading a script they didn’t write to a list they didn’t screen, billed by the hour whether anyone picks up or not. What comes back is a spreadsheet of dispositions typed up by whoever was on the phone, which you have no way to check. When the campaign underperforms you can’t tell whether the list was wrong, the offer was wrong, or the calls just weren’t really made.

Campaigns is the on-demand AI outbound call layer: point it at a list, and every call comes back screened, recorded, transcribed and tagged.

Key features

It’s the same agent that answers your phone. Campaigns isn’t a dialler bolted on the side. It runs on the same assistant as Capture and Convert: every campaign we’ve run in production uses it, so it already knows your stock, your opening hours, your finance options and what this customer has spoken to you about before. A customer who rang you last month isn’t a cold stranger on the outbound call, and they don’t get told something that contradicts what they were told on the inbound one. However you can also customise this to be a different agent with it’s own memory.

Every number screened before anything dials. Contacts are checked against TPS and flagged
safe
or
blocked
before the campaign starts, and blocked numbers are excluded from the callable list rather than dialled and apologised for. Compliance is a precondition, not a report you read afterwards.

A real conversation, not a recorded message. The agent handles the actual reply, the customer asking what it’s about, whether it’s urgent, whether Tuesday works instead: and books, takes a callback request, or steps back. A voicemail drop that nobody returns isn’t outreach.

Recorded, transcribed and summarised: every call, automatically. Not a disposition code someone typed at the end of a shift. The recording, the full transcript, and a written summary land against the customer record, so “what did we actually say to this person” is a question with an answer.

Tagged outcomes that mean something. Booked, interested, callback requested, not interested, voicemail.Applied per call and rolled up per campaign alongside contacts called, completed, no answer and busy. You can see the difference between a list that didn’t connect and a list that connected and said no.

It runs on your schedule, not its own. Working hours, quiet hours, retry behaviour and voicemail handling are all set before launch. It doesn’t ring anyone at 8pm because a queue happened to reach them.

You pay for conversations, not attempts. Tiered by volume. Connected calls bill at full rate, voicemail at half, and unanswered calls are free. No retainer, and no invoice for the calls that never reached anyone.

Interested? Most dealership follow-up either doesn’t happen at all, or happens as a generic “still interested?” text that reads like a template because it is one. Or worse end up paying massive amounts of ‘platform fees’ for sending generic emails/messages every few days to customers. Customers ignore it and the team can’t tell whether a slow month is a demand problem or a follow-up problem, because nothing gets measured.

Convert is the agentic follow-up layer that always talks about a specific vehicle, and now reports on what actually happened.

Thanks for reading The Ombox Blog! No lead gets a generic “just checking in” text.

A conversational ladder after a link click. If a lead clicks a vehicle link and doesn’t reply, Convert doesn’t resend the link it works through interest, budget, timing, and finance about that specific car, the way a good salesperson would follow up in person.

Careful re-engagement for quiet leads, offering only genuinely new or repriced stock (never a random inventory dump), and asking at most one preference question if we don’t already know what they’re after, never a survey.

Respects the exit. A positive reply, a callback request, an opt-out, or “not in the market right now” stops the chase immediately.

A Reports tab you can actually download from. Filter by time period (7/30/90 days) and channel, see leads messaged, reply rate, “interested” responses, and opt-out rate against the prior period, and a breakdown by trigger type (new stock, price drop, nurture, etc.), then export it to CSV with one click.

Interested? Calls roll to voicemail. WhatsApp messages sit unread overnight. A customer texts about a car at 9pm and hears back, if they hear back, the next afternoon, by which point they’ve called someone else.

Capture is our answer to that: AI voice and messaging agents that pick up every inbound conversation: phone, WhatsApp, SMS, email, and web chat. 24/7, and hand the human team a qualified, summarized lead instead of a missed call.

Key features

Real phone conversations, not IVR trees. The AI agent answers the call, understands open-ended questions, looks up live inventory mid-call (”we’ve got five 2024 Fiestas in stock, three of them in red”), catches and corrects things like an invalid appointment date, and reads back a phone number to confirm it before hanging up. Set it up within a turnaround time of a few hours!

Named personas per role, not one generic bot voice. We can have Maisie handle sales enquiries, Jenny handles service, Albert handles parts: each with a distinct voice and greeting, so the experience matches what a customer would expect from that department.

Automatic cross-channel handoff. A call ends with a WhatsApp follow-up sent automatically. No one on the team has to remember to text the customer the details they just discussed.

Structured call summaries, not just a recording. Every call produces a summary with customer interest, budget range, and if one was booked: the appointment time, location, and which salesperson was notified.

After-hours and overflow coverage across WhatsApp, SMS, email, and web, so the parts of the day when dealerships historically lose the most demand are now covered by default instead of by exception.

Admin control without engineering, via the Capture settings page: dealership staff can create and edit assistants, manage which knowledge base each one draws from, preview voices, and set per-assistant email notifications: no ticket to us required.

Vehicle-search-by-text, as an add-on: assistants can text a customer a link to matching stock instead of trying to describe five cars over voice or SMS.

AI-initiated outbound calling (experimental, opt-in): staff can queue a callback with instructions for the AI to place, with a human approving each call before it goes out. Off by default.

Interested?
